President Letter

Hello to all Gelbvieh Breeders in Ohio and OVGA & AGA Members,

As only OVGA members attended the March meeting at the Ohio Beef Expo I would like to reintroduce myself to everyone.  My name is Shirley Colaiacovo to old friends and Shirley Colaiacovo-Miller to newer friends.  (Loman(Earl) and I married in 2005.)  I was Secretary/Treasurer from 1986 until Karen Sheeley took over the job.

2011 OVGA offices are treasurer, Karen; Sectratary, Sasha; VP, Paul Wetzl; & NE AGA director, John Huston.

I invite everyone to attend one/all OVGA functions in the future.  I  encourage you to visit a Gelbvieh farm, there are many thur out the state that are not AGA or OVGA members.

Just because the cattle in the field are black they may not be Angus, they maybe registered PB Gelbvieh, registered Balancers(Gelbvieh/Angus cross), another breed, or commerical.  Stop and ask the farmer.  You maybe surprised!

Just a note on Certified Angus Beef:  To qualify to to be CAB the cattle only have to be black.  So are they Gelbvieh, Limousine, Chi, Maine, Simmential, Saler, or just plain cross-bred?  Check it out.

Sincerely and proud to be your president,
Shirley
